Watermark:
Pikk Hermann or Tall Hermann (Langer Hermann) is a tower of the Toompea Castle, on Toompea hill in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. The first part was built around 1360 - 1370. It was rebuilt (height brought to 45,6 meters) in the XVI century. A staircase with 215 steps leads to the top of the tower. The tower consists of ten internal floors and a viewing platform at the top.
Pikk Hermann tower is situated next to the Estonian Parliament building and the flag on the top of the tower at 95 meters above sea level is one of the symbols of the government in force.
Avers:
The engraving on banknote is made after this portrait of Karl von Baer.
Karl Ernst Ritter von Baer, Edler von Huthorn (28 February [O.S. 17 February] 1792 - 28 November [O.S. 16 November 1876)) was an Estonian scientist and explorer.
Baer was a naturalist, biologist, geologist, meteorologist, geographer and a founding father of embryology. He was an explorer of European Russia and Scandinavia. He was a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a co-founder of the Russian Geographical Society and the first President of the Russian Entomological Society, making him a distinguished Baltic German scientist.

Revers:
The University of Tartu (Tartu Ülikool, Universitas Tartuensis) is a classical university in the city of Tartu, Estonia. University of Tartu is the national university of Estonia. It is the biggest and highest-ranked university in Estonia. The University of Tartu is a member of the Coimbra Group and the Utrecht Network, and was established by King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden In 1632, thus being one of the oldest universities in Northern Europe.
There is no question that the main building of the University of Tartu is one of the pearls of the city - it is one of the most outstanding examples of classicistic architecture in Estonia built from 1804 to 1809 according to the design created by architect Johann Wilhelm Krause. The opening ceremony of the building was held on 3 July 1809. All important events in the life of the university have been celebrated in its main hall since then. The good acoustics and spaciousness of the hall have made it a popular venue for concerts and conferences. You can visit the main hall and the former lock-up room on the attic floor of the building, both of which are considered to be pearls of classicistic architecture in Estonia, through the History Museum of the University of Tartu.
