Pont du Gard

The Bridge on the bill likely corresponds to the ancient viaduct near the city of Nimes, France (Pont du Gard, XIX century BC.).

This architectural structure is an outstanding achievement, as it has become possible, thanks to it, to deliver drinking water to a distance of 50 km away. At those times the builders had only wood and stone. And although, an astringent, such as cement, was completely absent, the bridge is designed very elegantly - and, nevertheless, stable. In addition, only 17-meter height of the bridge itself is a technical challenge, that has been successfully overcome.

At the bottom is the map of Europe and 12 stars of the European Union.

Large denomination in numeral below.

The design of banknotes was designed by an artist of the National Bank of Austria, Robert Kalina and a graphic designer from Germany Reinhold Gershtetter.

All euro banknotes have the signature of the current President of the ECB. Director appointed for a term of eight years.

The following islands and overseas territories are shown on the back of euro banknotes: the Azores, the Canary Islands, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Madeira, Martinique and Reunion.

When probing the bills left to right should be letters and numbers, indicating the dignity of the monetary unit.

Design changes have affected the map of Europe - it has expanded to the east to include Cyprus, the island of Malta is also depicted. These changes are related to the entry of Cyprus and Malta to the EU.

The note also carries the initials of the European Central Bank in nine linguistic variants, covering all official languages of the EU in the beginning of 2013 (the time of the banknote introduction), and now 23 out of 24 official languages of the EU28, in the following order (see above for details on the initials used already in the 2002 series): BCE, ECB, ЕЦБ (Bulgarian: Европейска централна банка), EZB, EKP, ΕΚΤ, EKB (Hungarian: Európai Központi Bank), BĊE (Maltese: Bank Ċentrali Ewropew), EBC (Polish: Europejski Bank Centralny). Not covered by the initials is Croatian, which became an official language in July 2013 (the ECB name in Croatian is Europska središnja banka, abbreviated ESB).
